Alessi ABI05 Octave bread and breadstick basket in steel
The Australian designer Abi Alice joins music and mathematics to create the harmonious and elegant shapes of OCTAVE, Alessi’s centrepiece. OCTAVE comes from a sheet of stainless steel 18/10, which is skilfully cut, worked and welded, in order to obtain an easy and refined object, whose shape is harmonious and pleasant. The designer was inspired by the interval between tones in a musical octave, which suggested the final proportion of 2:1. The author transforms this proportion into geometry and style, by applying it to the collection of baskets and centrepieces. The name “Octave” is an homage to the musical origins of these products.
