Basket Pot
Created by pressing clay into a woven basket mold, this piece retains the delicate textures and designs of the original basket. I was inspired to make these after reading about archaeological findings showing impressions of basket patterns on ancient pottery shards.
I used a mixture of store-bought terracotta clay mixed with foraged clay from a development site in Lockwood Ridge, Florida. I added smoke clouds by saggar fring with sawdust in my outdoor rocket kiln.
