Fire Cloud Bowl
This piece was coil built with terracotta clay rather than formed on the potter’s wheel. The surface is decorated by carving. The soft sheen is achieved through the application of terra sigillata, followed with light burnishing. After firing in an electric Kim, this piece was fired a second time inside a sagar, containing sawdust to create the smoke marks or “fire clouds” on the surface.
This piece is fragile and porous and it’s not to be used as a dishware. Dimensions 5”x5”x3.5”
