Terracotta Pedestal Bowl
This piece was made on the potter’s wheel with terracotta clay. The surface is decorated by carving and stamping. The soft sheen is achieved through the application of terra sigillata followed with light burnishing. After firing in an electric kiln, this piece was fired a second time inside a saggar containing sawdust to create the smoke marks or “fire clouds” on the surface.
This piece is fragile and porous and is not to be used as dishware. Dimensions: 8”x8”x5”
